Bridge or fixed teeth are an option to replace the missing teeth.
WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS TYPES OF BRIDGE??
Based on the material used for the fabrication of the bridge it can be of following types:
1) Zerconia or metal free:
This is the recent material used for the fabrication of dental crowns and bridges. This is totally metal free and esthetically the best.
Being totally metal free it allows the passage of light and thus mimics the translucent property of the tooth.
2) Porcelain fused to metal crown (ceramic):
These are the crowns which comprise of two layers metal and ceramic.
3) Metal crowns: These are the conventional crowns. But being fully metallic they are very clearly visible on opening the mouth. In case of front teeth acrylic (white colored) facings are given.
HOW LONG THE BRIDGE OR FIXED TEETH LAST??
If properly maintained the bridge can last for a pretty long time.
MAINTENANCE REQUIRED AFTER PLACEMENT OF FIXED TEETH:
Twice daily brushing and flossing are more than sufficient to maintain the fixed teeth in a good state for a long term.
Also once or twice a year professional cleaning, as advised by your dentist will be beneficial.
